I think the idea is to get the pics out of SPP and into TIFF. Further processing is then performed in something decent, like Lightroom. That's where I do photo-specific adjustments.

For each photo, I turn sharpness off, turn NR off (except banding NR, which I leave on), adjust the exposure by -1 stops (because I ETTR by +1 stop), and save settings to X3F. Then I batch export to TIFF/ProPhoto RGB using X3F settings.

It's not a nightmare, but lets face it, SPP is a barely-usable piece of crap. It's more like a bad dream
