Be aware of some pitfalls when buying used

Be aware that you can run into some pitfalls and problems when buying a used D700. If you buy a used camera online, be sure that the seller will give you an inspection period of at least a couple of days to test the camera and then accept it, or reject it and be able to return it for a refund. Otherwise, you could potentially end up with a camera with a very dirty sensor. Or even a sensor with a lot of hot pixels.

You also want to buy from a vendor who can verify for you what the shutter activation count is currently at for the camera. A camera with only 15,000 activations, for example, would be more valuable and desirable than a camera with 115,000 shutter uses.
