I bought a Canadian 400 2.8 - I'm in the US.  I figured that, if I had a problem, I could ship it to a cousin who lived in Vancouver and get it dealt with.

Unfortunately, she decided to wander off to New Zealand... Sigh.

And of course, I had a problem, the aperture lever was stuck.  Nikon USA wouldn't touch it, of course.  Nikon Canada would not ship out of Canada.

Talked to ACS (I think that's the name, away from my PC so I can't look it up but it's the dominant US aftermarket camera repair company).  They were 'pretty sure' they could fix it and were happy to look into it.

Ended up fixing it myself.  Not exactly the answer you want but at least ACS implied they had access to some parts.
