In addition to the foregoing advice:

(1) Apply a copyright/watermark.

(2) Of more importance:

Store your Name, & Copyright info. on your camera.

That way the image file's EXIF stores that info with the image, and is undisputable proof that the image is in fact yours.

If you're "saving" the file as a jpeg in programs like Photoshop, use the "Save As" function---NOT--"Save For Web", as the latter has been known to "delete" the EXIF data from the file.
