I updated the review with some more information about this question.  The highest speed for an SD card is limited to 133X of (20MB/S).  The CF Card slot supports the newer and very fast UDMA7 protocol and will support the fastest CF card produced today.  To my knowledge, the Lexar Professional 1000x Card is the fastest card and reads as (150MB/s).  So, to answer your question; I  would invest in fast CF cards and use the SD slot as a last case option as an overflow.  If you invest in a few SD cards, keep them at 20MB/s or lower, or else you are wasting your money.  Don't second write to the SD slot, because you will limit the CF speed.  Hope that helps..
