It certainly does, and did for a very long time. No idea if and how it supports them on Windows, as I never used it on that platform.

No, it doesn't have adjustment layers. Original versions of the layers and results of multiple alternative operations are usually kept in separate normally-inactive layers, with comparisons and final choices made by activating and deactivating corresponding layers, sometimes with pasting normally-inactive layers as layer masks, to combine different versions.
