A spherical (360x180°) panorama with the D800...

...I had shot several times Saint-Peter's cathedral in Geneva in the past, with different bodies and lenses, but since I bought the D800, I wanted to see if I could get better results with its 36 megapixels and its larger DR !

As usual, I used the Nikon fisheye 10.5 f/2.8 DX (with the lens-shade shaved off, so that I can use it on a FX body), in vertical position. I took 4 images, one every 90°, plus 1 for the Nadir. I stitched the images with PTGui and converted into a spherical 360x180 degrees panorama with Pano2VR.

Here's the (reduced, as the original is 11024x5512 pixels) "equirectangular" image created by PTGui !

...and you can play with the 360x180° pano at http://www.viewat.org/?i=en&id_aut=2489&id_pn=21429&sec=pn !

Just put your mouse in the center of the image and drag it up/down/left/right... wherever you like ! You can also zoom in and out by using your mouse weel !

A tip: click on the last icon of the lower right-side of the image, that makes the image FULL-SCREEN !

Apart from that, I want to wish you all an excellent end of year 2012 and an even better start of the new one !!!
