Just got this lens... Unlike the 40mm 2.8 which is SUPER sharp wide open, this lens is NOT super sharp wide open. I'm a bit upset since the 40mm is $150 and this one is $850. I get optimal sharpness @ 3.2 and then it just stays flat. 2.8 is really good, but I really wanted to shoot f2 with this lens and use IS rather than 2.8. Hmmm.. I may return this for the sigma 35 1.4...

I would like to point out that the difference between 40mm 2.8 and 35mm f2 is VERY obvious even on the back of the LCD. @ 2.8 they are about even.

Thats pretty sad, why not just get the Canon 35L even if it's used? The Sigma 35mm has soft corners from what I've read plus you play the Sigma lottery and it wont be as good as the Canon 35L.
