I just made the switch

from: CANON 50D + 17-85mm + 300mm L + 1.4X TC

to: Oly OM-D + 12-50mm + 100-300mm

My interests are nature (landscapes and wildlife, mainly birds) and family pics.

I switched for size and weight.  The weight of my Canon set-up for birding including backpack and tripod, was 12 kg.  The Oly set-up is 5 kg.  Camera and lenses only:  2.71 kg -vs- 0.95 kg.  After 15 km, it feels like a lot of weight...

IMHO, I gave up only one feature, phase detect auto-focus.  This is a major one for birds in flight but if I had a choice, I would do it again. On the plus side, the OM-D has a lot of features my 50D didn't have, including video... and camera + lenses cost a lot less.

This is my opinion, for what it is worth.
