I agree, I think: To me the major differences between the two are vignetting and distortion, which is pretty heavy with the zoom, wide open.  Luckily it can be easy to correct in LR et al. Sharpness is a wash, which is very impressive indeed, for the zoom.

Also, note that you can hand-hold down to ridiculous shutter speeds with the prime thanks to the 4 stops of IS (see e.g. the night street shots).
