more Nikon USA than Nikon?
1

while I've seen many complaints, it seems that many are with Nikon USA versus their other markets.  I'm sure similar issues exist elsewhere, but I wonder how much of it is a general Nikon issue versus something Nikon USA did to make things worse.

I recently got a new SB-910 on eBay for a very good price.  turns out a US seller was selling a German market item.  this led me to go look up various warranty issues, so I don't get caught surprised if an issue arises some time later.

basically, I'm not going to try dealing with Nikon USA if something happens.  I'll just turn to Nikon Japan.  I visit there often enough.  seems like Nikon Japan will actually honor their worldwide warranty, unlike the US, which will ignore it for whatever random reason they have.  also seems like Nikon Japan will repair items outside of warranty even if it isn't from their marketing region.

not exactly on-topic as this thread seems to be mostly about what Nikon does in the US, but I find it strange how a supposed worldwide warranty is is treated in different Nikon markets.

now I'm a bit interested at the "impact damage" statistics in the Japan market and elsewhere... is it similar to how Nikon USA is doing things?
