need your advice
The Fujifilm FinPix F30 I bought in 2006 failed to auto focus while I was on a trip. I emailed Fujifilm and was told to send it to their Camera Repair Department in NJ to be tested. I called Hong Kong's Fujifilm technical support they told me replacement parts for Fujifilm Finepix F30 had been discontinued. So I wonder why Fujifilm told me to send the camera to NJ.
I brought the camera to the store I bought it from to be looked at. The salesperson recommended me to buy the FinePix F800EXR instead.
I checked the preview at dpreview and found that it has a Wireless Image Transfer function which I don't need.
I also found it's rating to be 3 out of 5 at:
compared to the budget Fujifilm Finepix F660EXR which earned a five-star review:
Is there a better choice without the Wireless Image Transfer feature and at a cheaper price?
If you wanted to repair your F30, that probably means you like it and would like to keep using it. I would suggest buying used F30 locally or on ebay, it would be cheaper then repair (if repair was possible). Of the newer Fuji cameras, the only one I would consider as worthy replacement for F30 is F200EXR, unfortunately also discontinued but usually available on ebay for low price considering the quality of the camera. For the current stuff (F800 and F660), you might be OK with it, but you could also be disappointed, especially if you view your images at 100% (pixel peep).
