Need a decent 24/28/35mm lens for environmental portraits

Hi everyone,

I thought my solution was going to be a Sony RX1 until I ran the price past the missus. Unless I can claim I won one I need a plan B

I have a D700 with a 50mm f1.8G lens. It's a great lens but it's a bit more telephoto than I like really.

We have a baby due next year so I'd like a lens I can use for portraits of him/her with some context. Thoughts are:

Nikon 28mm f1.8

Nikon 35mm F2

Sigma 35mm f1.4

I could spend up to around £800. With any budget over I may buy the Samyang 14mm.

I used to own a Canon 5D with 35mm F1.4L and loved it but it was so heavy I got fed up carrying it. For that reason I'm a bit wary of the Sigma, plus it's a huge looking lens that may scare relatives!

My full gear list is X100, D700, 50mm f1.8G and I'm more of a primes fan than zooms.

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Canon EOS 5D Fujifilm FinePix X100 Nikon D700 Sony RX1
