Telephoto attachments for lenses are often a bad idea, unless specifically designed for the lens and camera in question. Often they result in vignetting or distortion. If the "magnifier" came in a kit promoted by any vendor other than Panasonic itself, it could very well cause nothing but trouble. However, even a Panasonic-made tele extender will cause wide angle to be less wide, That is inherent in what the piece does. Even at the long end, it would probably feature pin cushion distortion. That is precisely why dedicated longer lenses exist. Of course, they cost more, often more than the camera body or the price of a travel zoom camera.
