Back to the OP... Micro AF-adjust works very well with screw drive lenses as others have mentioned. The only issue is when you use non-Minolta or Sony lenses that share the same lens ID (Sigma, Tamron). All Minolta and Sony lenses have unique IDs while Sigma and Tamron often use the same IDs as similar Minolta/Sony lenses. In some cases 2 or more Sigma lenses use the same ID which means only 1 micro adjust value can be stored.

I use mostly "modern" lenses but have the Minolta 100 f/2 and 100-300 APO D as well as a couple of pre-digital Sigmas. All work great. Are the anti-reflective coatings as good as a current Zeiss T*? Definitely not but rendering, colors and bokeh are unique, sharpness is more than good enough. You learn to work with your equipment's limitations and adapt, no big deal.
