Apropos this thread, I personally dislike the term "equivalent MP" intensely. To me, MP - when stately simply as the number of active photo-sites on a sensor - is a statement of the sensor's absolute resolution in terms of it's dimensions. Any other photographic obfuscation is true b/s, IMHO. We should all know by now that image quality (however expressed) and resolution do not necessarily go hand-in-hand.

I can show you "high-quality" watch shots taken at 0.8MP (SD10 LO res) and I can show you some really soft shots taken with equal care with a 6MP D50/60mm micro-Nikkor. Not that I'm going to
