Another question: if the SD1 has 46MP and the Fuji only 16MP, how come the pixels in the above bridge images are about the same size?

You can't compare MP (which is a photosite count) with output pixels (especially since bayer style cameras fudge the output size).

Fuji does not use a Bayer style sensor.

Remember I was the one that originally used the 30-MP bayer equivalent term, 46 MP was only forced up by the troll.
