Must you use flash?

Are you shooting a professional fashion show, where models will be walking down a runway lit by theatrical lighting? If so, you shouldn't need to use a flash, as lighting levels should be reasonable.

In most cases where theatrical lighting is used, it's preferable not to use a flash, so as not to destroy the visual effect that the lighting designer has intended to create.

Another consideration for runway photography is the safety of the models. Having a bright flash fired into one's eyes can make it more difficult to see where one is walking -- which could be a real problem if one is walking on an elevated runway.
