If it is, indeed, oil you might be better off to go ahead and wet clean it now. Waiting longer will make your cleaning job harder, for dried lubricants are harder to get rid of.

Following our earlier discussions I bought Cooper Hill kit and just for the sake of practice wet cleaned my D5100 three times within a week. It had two faint oil spots which were impossible to see at f/11 but were visible at f/22 if you knew where to look. Wet cleaning process was easy enough but it took three sessions total with two full swipes (with a QuickStrips change) per session to get rid of those oily spots.
