Canon F-1...Solid, many lenses available, have had it since 1974, it always works.

Not Bad:

Minolta Maxxum works well but still needs occasional manual focusing, viewfinder clearer than F-1. Good feel with vertical grip attached.


Canon EOS it as a close out special $500 in 1992 to try the auto focus rage going on at the time.  Kit lenses had poor contrast, af only worked in bright sunlight and hunted in all other lighting, got more for lenses alone as cash a year later. I took it apart and threw away the pieces.

What about digital?

Sony A33 works well, af is good, viewfinder has live view, button layout easy to reach, but battery needs charging a lot sooner than I think it does. The only SLR digital I've owned.
