Nikon 85mm 1.8G and focus shift

So I've read quite a bit about this lens and how it can suffer from focus shift when stopping down. I am looking to buy or rent it for an upcoming trip - primary usage would be landscape. How much of a real-world issue is focus shift for landscape, given much shooting will take place at infinity? Does stopping down cause it to shift backwards from infinity, or is the combination of infinity focus + narrow f-stop enough to render the focus shift issue moot?

You might wonder why I wouldn't just focus in LV at my chosen aperture - well, often I can and will. But there are times when it is handy to achieve focus with a wider aperture and then stop down. For example, if shooting in low light and/or shooting with an ND on, you may need to open the aperture up a bit to allow enough light in to see what you are doing in LV.
Curious to hear from anyone that uses this for landscapes.

Cheers
