I really like the angle of the grip on that camera body

I like the way that one fits my hands. I have not used it for a while. Can't provide an exact date since I used it last. Time flies

As mentioned Sony is making digital cameras that support the Minolta AF mount. Your Minolta AF lenses would work on those cameras. The Sony SLT is not like an SLR though. The viewfinder is showing you an electronically generated image. The mirror is translucent. Essentially they are similar to pocket cameras that support interchangeable lenses, but much larger. I'm not sure if Sony still makes a DSLR with an optical view finder like a film SLR. They might.
