Question reg IS on short focal length

Hi all,

canon just released the new 35mm F2 IS.

Since I am shooting with the old 5d, I could really use the IS for low light.

But would it really allow me to shoot a candid  portrait at 1/15 or even 1/8?

I know the lens hasn't been tested yet but there is the 28mm IS. Maybe there some experience already.

If yes, then it seems to me that I could get 4 stops of extra light much cheaper via the IS lens then via a higher ISO of a new body. Does that make sense at all?
