I am the OP. What I don't understand is why use manual flash output when the flash support non-TTL auto mode? Indoors exposures are spot on, and the initial setup of the camera and the flash takes only a few minutes. From then on, you just shoot as if the flash and camera are working in TTL mode. There's virtually no difference in the results or in ease of use.
