I've watched "sky at night" since I was a child having been given special permission to stay up late by my parents to watch it. 30 Years later Patrick Moore gave an an astronomy lecture at a local civic hall which I attended. I had the opportunity to ask him if he would pose for a studio portrait as I had gone self employed as a social photographer. He had nothing to gain by this but he was happy to pose for me in my mini studio.

I still have the picture hanging in my shop (just about the only one taken on film!!!). What a nice man. I didn't know about his hatred of Germans but it turns out his 20 year old fiancée was killed in the London blitz during the war -  he stayed single to her memory thereafter......
