Sorry to hear of your ordeal. If I get under strong shower with photo backpack - I don't open it till I get into controlled climate area and let it stay camera untouched for couple days. A850 itself is well sealed. You break it by detatching lens in hostile environment.

Corrosion sounds bad. A850 has SSS that is moving assembly, corrosion kills that, kills mirror mechanism, and ciruit board contacts.

get Nikon, Canon, or et used A900 or A850 from KEH or ebay.

Person is taking photos, not camera. When photograph is bad, it's because photographer doesn't know how to choose settings optimal to "own preferences". Then blames camera for bad IQ.
This is same as blaming car about arriving to wrong destination.
