I never had Sigma 30F1.4, but have a experience with Samyang 35/1,4

Yes, it's exceptionally sharp lens and all you wrote for it is true.

For me it was the choice by other 2 reasons : I use it on FF D700 Nikon, so it's AE version (full exposition control from the camera), focus confirmed in viewfinder, and second - this was my choice for best price/performance ratio.
