Brian & Marc,

There don't seem many posts in this forum about the Samsung cameras with fixed lenses. I expected to see more EX2 posts, in particular, but they're not common. The higher-end Samsung compacts seem to do a very good job both in terms of IQ and usability, so this relative lack of images from them is surprising.

So true, I would love to see some images from the latest samsung cameras, but these models have been completely forgotten it seems, and no wonder, when we have this sort of nonsense which I have commented on here:  http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50444902

I'm very satisfied with the EX1 as a walkaround or everyday camera. It lives in my anorak pocket so goes along on the many dog walks about the place. As the old saying goes, "The best camera is the one you have with you"; to which I would add, "especially if it's a Samsung EX1".

I was considering upgrading this year, but can find nothing that exceeds the EX1.

It being the very end of autumn here in Blighty, the sun is low (when it's out at all) so the highlights are bright and the shadows are black. A challenging photonic environment for any camera; but the EX1 does very well, as long as one turns the EV way-down low. Lots of shadows and a wide DR means that it's 16bit RAW files are handy but even the jpegs are pretty good. Here are three from today's adventure with Ollie & Gunnar (RAWs auto-processed via Adobe ACR then NeatImage).

You have produced incredible fine images for such conditions or any conditions for that matter, I am also suffering photographically in the strong Australian summer sun.

Perhaps we Samsung fixed-lens-camera lads ought to have a regular weekly thread for our photos? Brian is having to do it all by himself just now! I would particularly like to see some EX2 photos, although I haven't been tempted to swap my EX1 for the newer model (no requirement for better video or wifi, although that wider lens whispers to my wallet).

What a good idea, I am running a single handed effort here trying to get some interest in not only the P&S cameras but also what can be produced with them.

Brian
