Wait for E7 or just get a Nikon D5200 or Pentax K5 II or K30

Re: Minor detour, Pentax vs Olympus lens comparison

Going through the lens comparison I again realized the great value Olympus 4/3's lenses offer given their very high quality at all levels (SG, HG, SHG). Where else can you purchase lenses comparable to the 9-18 f4-5.6, 14-54 MkII f2.8-3.5, 50-200 f2.8-3.5 and 35mm macro for a combined $2600 new or $1500 used?

Olympus' failure to produce a K-5 II equivalent for around $1000 is simply a shame for users and assuredly killing sales of this excellent lens system. The E-M5 is decidedly not this camera, being unable to AF properly with most 4/3's lenses and incapable of tracking birds/fast action. Great small body, but of limited usefulness.

Maybe there's a PDAF-on-sensor or adapter solution waiting in the wings, but I'm not counting on it anytime soon.  Given this, a good used E-5 for around $1000 may be the best solution for the OP for now; he can always sell it for decent $ should Olympus surprise us in 2013.
