Re: Low light focusing X-Pro vs XE-1?

I just bought an XE1. I used it last night for the first time doing nightscape shots of the Milky Way at a totally dark site. I was able to focus using manual and looking through the evf on a bright star.

This worked.

This works better:

Press the Command dial when in manual focus and then turning the dial you get a 3x and 10x magnification

From another poster. Very nice implementation - add to that the fact the 18-55 has optical stabilisation and manual focus is a breeze.

Also there is a nice scale that appears on the display showing the current focal point of the zoom lens and the various distances. So you can spin the focus ring and the marker moves and shows you at what distance it is now focused at. I found infinity focus to be a bit before the infinity symbol but have not checked it on an image if focus was off doing this or not.

So I would opt for manual focusing in bad light using the command dial and the EVF as above.
