What is physically/practically possible?

Sony’s SLT system permits a portion of the light to pass through to the sensor and a portion to be reflected to the phase detection autofocus systems. Would it be either beyond the laws of physics or a poor business decision to create a mirror with the ability to block /allow light dynamically where the mirror itself would allocate photons on a grid above each pixel site? Thus, mirror pixel location A1 allows 20% light, location V943, 85%. The obvious advantage would be expansion of the camera’s dynamic range without effecting noise by automatically collecting only those photons within 1-255 (user controlled) that now are only arduously possible by using a variety of lens filters. Such filters try to reduce blown highlights or avoid lost shadows. Would this also permit greater flexibility in lens design?
