I too have both lenses and have similar results. I bought the Canon first on the cheap for around £10. It's nice if used properly, but my copy is just unpleasant wide open. Liked the FL though, so bought the Sigma soon after. Better size/weight/AF/IQ makes it a no brainer over the Canon.

Only time I use the Canon is night photography on a tripod. I agree with you that MF is so much nicer on legacy lenses compared to native E-mount lenses. So legacy lenses make perfect sense on a tripod in very low light - where AF struggles anyway and one is likely to stop down.
