Actually, I did keep some of my Canon gear. I still have the 50D and 70-200 2.8 (and a couple of other lenses) specifically for shooting sports. For shooting fast moving subjects, the 50D is still significantly better than the OM-D (and, I suspect, the GH3). It sounds like the GH3 is a step better than any other m43, especially with the f/2.8 zooms, but still not up to the better DSLRs.

Note, though, that all DSLRs are NOT created equal. The entry level cameras, like the Canon Rebel's, aren't as good at continuous AF as mid-range and high-end cameras. I wouldn't be too surprised if the GH3 can match a Rebel in this respect.
