Re: Is prior DSLR ownership needed to appreciate a NEX?

Just one guy's view but I say no.  In fact I'd say it helps not to have had a DSLR sometimes.  I came from a P&S because I wanted better shots of my kids but hated the idea of the size and complexity of a DSLR.  I find the NEX-5 to be simply the best camera I've ever had by a long way.  It's capabilities also meant that I've learnt more about photography on the journey (thanks to many on this forum by the way).  Mostly though, I say no because I used to read (and sometimes still do) comments from ex-DSLR owners who wish the NEX did this thing or that thing that whatever DSLR they had did, regardless of the fact that it's half the size.  Sure, if all you want is P&S then it's overkill and you should buy an IXUS or something but, if you want to really appreciate the quality of what you get out of it, then having an IXUS as your benchmark like I did means you'll really appreciate your NEX
