Test with manual focus first

If you can get a sharp image using manual focus then at least you know that it isn't an optical defect. Use focus peaking to make sure you have correct focus.

It isn't unusual for cheap zooms to have variable AF performance. Unfortunately the Pentax microadjust system only allows one adjustment per lens so you will have to compromise to find the optimal setting. Check across a range of apertures too. You may find that increased depth of field at wider focal lengths solves some of the problem for you.

If you're still not happy swap for a DA55-300 instead. More expensive sadly but better.
