Re: Need advice on potential iMac migration to SSD

I had a 2008 iMac which I was going to retire and get a new iMac last year.

I instead took it to an authorized apple repair place and had the 1 tb drive taken out and replaced it with a 250 gb Ssd drive which I had bought on line.

The switch only cost me $50.00 for the  replacement plus the cost of the Ssd.

It was the best thing I ever did. It is a new computer really fast. You will notice the speed.

You should be able to get a good price on the Ssd drives ... You will only need a 3gb per spec drive instead of the newer 6gb. The older iMac only handles the 3gb .

I still use my IMac and use external drives for my data.

You will not be disappointed  in a Ssd drive. Talk with your local apple authorized repair person.

I did not take it to an Apple Store.
