Re: Any tips for shooting an event?

Thanks for your tips Chas. Really appreciate them! I was thinking along the same lines, using the 50mm with on-camera flash and to play with ISO settings, but unfortunately, the 50mm becomes a full-fledged 75mm in my crop-sensor camera, so considering that the venue am going to work tomorrow is a bit small, I will be forced to use the 18-105 most of the time -for group shots taken just a few feet apart.

Also, thanks for reminding me of the AF assist mode. Being an interior/ architecture photographer most of the time, I almost forgot about it!

"I'd want to be shooting at 2.8 and faster, hotshoe mounted flash with bounce card. ISO 1600 and around 1/125 min shutter. Your 50 will be yr best lens IMO. A 35/1.8 0r 28/1.8 might be very useful as the 50 will be too long for a lot. I recommend shooting in AF-S to enable the AF assist on your flash to work."
