I don't think you could get the same result from a JPEG file, I haven't tried. BTW, it is not a case of 'saving', I deliberately exposed for the windows with the intention of pushing in processing.

Yes Bob I realized why you did what you did. I was just concerned, because using Jpeg's all the time I did go ahead and process your dark file, thinking maybe it wasn't possible, but to the contrary it came out pretty nice. I realize your OP is about something entirely different, sorry for this side track.  Have a great day,
