Its Sony flagship currently, price is more than adequate. It can do stuff that nothing from competition can. Only downside for some is video mode, but Im photographer with zero interest in that.

Look how much is D4 or 1DX worth, its same league. In some aspect its better, in some not, like those two between themselves.

D600, D800, 5DMK3 are enthusiast category (or semi-pro as you wish). A99 is pro category, which means its actually very cheap.

How is the a99 in any way comparable to the d4 and 1dx? Certainly not in the framerates and handling. Being the flagship or sony does not necessarily mean it is comparable to another company's flagship. Sony a99 is in competition with 5d3 and d800. which is better is your call depending on your needs. However, all the reviews that have been comparing a99 and d600 favours d600 in terms of image quality at all ISOs. What this means to each person is personal but one has to buy what makes one happy.
