Are any of the very old Canon full-frame DSLRs worth buying?

Re: 1Ds classic > 5D classic

The original 1Ds models were unpredictable with high-ISO performance. Some copies were cleaner than the 1D at ISO 1250 (thanks to those big pixels!) while others were noisy at ISO 800 (wait, aren't big pixels better?). I don't think Canon had good Q.C. with expensive full frame sensors yet and let a lot of marginal ones get through.

I don't think there was any way to get the 1Ds to shoot at ISO 1600 or higher. Photographers shooting sports who needed high resolution had to use flashes.
