Maybe try half pressing the shutter and tracking a sec before firing.

I sure do this... Shooting with VR lenses from 2004... May be my hands are too stable and lens thinks that it is mounted on tripod? That would be my ONLY explanation other than VC design problem... Yes, on 1/15 and 1/8 it works better than without VC, but it is very strange... I have 16-35VR, 24-120VR, 70-200VRII and had in the past 18-200VR, 28-300VR, 16-85VR, 105VR, two of older 70-200VR and NONE of them are/were doing anything like this... Just VC Tamrons...
