Samsung 12-24mm f/4-5.6 Reviewed

I have my review up for the Samsung 12-24mm f/4-5.6 lens. I really like the lens. Basically to recap it is sharp in the center at all zoom levels and apertures, good on the edges at all zoom levels and apertures, basically the same as the 16mm f/2.4 over shared aperture range.

I am definitely keeping this lens for my collection, but might be tempting to keep the 16mm for its small size as well. I find the focal range much more useful than a 10-18mm or so as it is actually nice to be able to go to 24mm much of the time. The problem with the 8-16mm or 10-18mm is even the tighter field of view end is very wide. Obviously going to 8 or 10mm can be nice too, but I find 12-24mm to fill the sweet spot pretty well.

My advice for either the 16mm or 12-24mm is focus near the edges for landscapes, this will give you a flatter overall sharpness profile.  Focusing at the center might cause softer edges.

And comparisons against the 16mm (I try to avoid these, but here it is anyway):
