Re: RX100 will recognize JPEGs from IDC4

Yes, the RX100 will recognize a new JPEG generated by IDC 4 (from a Sony RAW created on the same camera). The trick is to follow the numbering scheme on the card... keep it sequential when you name the new JPEG file you create.

So if you are really opposed to the extra space being taken up by redundant JPEG files you can shoot only RAW and apply either the illustration or the watercolor effect after the fact, in-camera, to a converted JPEG file... or you can just shoot RAW+JPEG and convert on the fly in-camera. You cannot apply either of the two effects after the fact inside IDC, furthermore illustration and watercolor are the only options you can apply after taking a shot.

Less steps and hassle just shooting RAW+JPEG and doing it in camera... instead of shooting, remove card, transfer, convert, save to card, transfer, convert... but I digress...

Thanks! That actually works, although it's quite fiddly. Shooting RAW+JPEG is clearly easier, if you want to apply the effect to many pictures, but if it's just one in hundreds then this would be a way to do it instead of having to delete a bunch of unwanted JPEGs afterwards.
