2 m away at f/4

Shooting with the 45mm lens @ f22 how far back would I need to be from my subject to have a DOF of say 200mm given that I was focusing on the front of the object

If your requirement is to have a 20 cm DOF, you really do not want to shoot with at f/22 (besides, we are talking diffraction city here). You want to be 2 m away from the subject and use f/4. That will give you 23 cm DOF.

If you increase your distance to 3 m, you can shoot at f/1.8 for the same DOF.
