--How do you have time to do all this at a wedding? At all my weddings(in UK) there just isn't time for all this. Certainly no time to check histograms especially with light levels changing by the second. I just have to stick my D30's on raw and autoexposure and off I go. It's the joy of using these cameras after years of messing about with hand held meters and medium format cameras.

Well I normally show up 1 hour early for a Church I have not been to before
Plus we were waiting for the bride for an hour....

Start with a light meter to get an initial setting to work from. Ajust the expousure until you get a good Hisogram. Checking histograms is very easy. just press the info button. If the white is all the way to the end you do not have the proper exposure. If there is some blue on each end of the histogram. Now you have a metering range to work with. You judge the exposure range you can use by how much blue you have on each end.
Takes about 3 to 5 min. per outdoor site and well worth the time invested.
