Nikon makes lens corrections as well

Especially for consumer level lenses such as the 18-55, 55-200 and 18-105 - Distortion, CA and vignetting control. They have been doing so since the D300 generation.

And the D5100 with a decent lens is still pretty cumbersome, I totally forgot how big DSLR's were...

I currently have one with a 16-85 (Great lens but the combo is over 1kg) and have been pretty disappointed as compared to my 5N and EVF:

  • Much larger and heavier
  • Terrible viewfinder
  • Woefully inaccurate auto focus
  • Clunky live view (With no exposure preview)
  • Still quite menu driven

Sure the IQ is excellent when it comes together, but so it is with a 5N / NEX-6 / OMD / XE1...

Only place an entry level DSLR wins is battery life, continuous AF and price.
