Here is the level of sharpness you can expect from the Leica Noctilux @ f/0.95:

Leica Noctilux 0.95 @ f/0.95

Focus was on the eyes, and they're the only thing in focus in this image. The reason you don't believe the Noctilux 0.95 is sharp wide open is that many of those who shoot with it often miss focus because of the shallow depth of field.

Here is another @ f/0.95 (focus was on the child's near eye):

Leica Noctilux 0.95 @ f/0.95.

Of course, @ f/1.2 the lens is even sharper!
