I understand that completely.  Did you miss the Grin smiley face? That's why zooms make sense for fixed lens cameras and why interchangeable lens cameras make sense.  But the OP wants the best of both worlds -- bigger sensor and fast zoom lens.  The reason why the Oly XZ cameras are the size they are despite fast zoom lens is the sensor is smaller than the OP wants.  The reason why the RX100 with its bigger sensor is as small as it is is that the long end of the zoom is slow.  The camera that the OP wants can be MADE (G15 aperture range but G1X sensor size) but it will not be compact -- a 4x or 5x zoom range with a fast aperture range for a camera with a sensor the size he wants will be bigger than the G1X which is already a behemoth in the world of compacts.  So if he wants small, he has to accept the limitations on the lens -- one fixed focal length that is fast if he wants a bigger sensor.
