I had to get mine recalibrated

I had a issue with my new Canon 40mm STM.

I was getting a lot of out of focus shots and so I did some simply tests and realised was constantly back focusing.  Stopped down it may not have been noticable due to the DoF. But I realised this was causing the problem when I used the lens wide open,

I could have returned it for replacement, but who knows I could have had the problem with that too.

So I sent it to Canon who recalibrated it FoC under warranty.  And now it works perfectly, and is one of my sharpest lenses.
