Pro9000 mkII and sRGB vs. ProPhoto

I've read many posts on this forum regarding subject color spaces. Most state that ProPhoto offers no advantages over sRGB. I'm always up for a good challenge, so I decided to see what my results would be.

I converted a raw file to sRGB and ProPhoto. Both files were white-balanced and sharpened identically. The test file subject matter was a fence with an array of multi-colored buoys. I printed the files on RR Ultra Pro Gloss, Canon Pro Platinum, and Epson PGPP. Color comparisons from both files were virtually the same, except the ProPhoto prints revealed noticeable improvements in the rendering of teal/turquoise colors. They had a bigger gamut and more intensity.

I wasn't expecting to see any differences, but I was surprised with the results. At least with the Pro9000 mkII, I think it behooves anyone to use ProPhoto, in order to squeeze out every nuance of color possible.
